Brown.  Very attractive item; worth further research into the recipient.  Neat Berkshire County item.  $80
[y2478]  Particularly nice example of the type 1 3 cent 1857 stamp - Scott #25- on cover from Baltimore, Maryland to Philadelphia, circa 1860.  Mostly clear but not obtrusive postmark; framelines show at both top and bottom; left frameline at the perfs; large right margin.  It's hard to find a #25 showing framelines at both top and bottom.  Scott $190 on cover.  $90

Newton & Co.  1 cent and 10 cent 1857 issues (Scott 34 and 35) pay transcontinental postage plus 1 cent carrier fee (unusual combination); 10 cent stamp has guide line and SE at left with very large marin.  Light cover soiling, a few spots and small stain at left edge; some soiling on reverse.  Red square grid cancels, plus New York black CDS with small black killer at top, used on ocean mail.  Circa 1860 but no year date.  Pretty combination.  SOLD

Boston postmark at top center with "19" integral rate notation; steamer "Arabia" ship endorsement at top.  A few small stains; cover has April 23 Dundee receiver on back and a few hinge marks and some pencil notations.  Business letter content datelined from Boston on April 9.  2017 PSAG certificate notes genuine usage with some stains to the cover, and a 9mm tear at the right side of the stamp (which is there but not unduly noticeable).  SOLD
[y1376] Pretty February 1861 use of the 5 cent 1857, Scott 30A, on cover from New York to Halifax, Nova Scotia.  Neat black NY CDS and target; "per R.M. Steamship for Halifax N.S." endorsement at top; "5" rate marking; vertical file fold away from stamp and two old hinge marks.  Folded letter with business content; two indistinct markings on the reverse.  Scott $325 on cover.  Design clear of perfs on all sides, though it is close at left, top and bottom.  Nice cover.  2017 PSAG certificate.  SOLD
[y1375] March 1861 use of the type 1 1-cent 1857 issue, Scott 18, on a circular from Boston to New Bedford.  Stamp tied with mostly clear CDS; circular advertises prices current for German window and picture glass.  Scarce stamp; 2018 Scott is $500 used; $650 on cover.  This patient is clear at top and with large left and right margins but in the perfs at bottom.   2017 PSAG certificate confirms ID as #18.  SOLD
[3160]  Nice 1 cent 1857 issue (Scott #24, type V) on cover to Pacific City, Iowa.  Postmark ties stamp; no date; St. Joseph is clear but the state name is not.  There are several possibilities, including Missouri, Michigan and Illinois (plus a few others).  Unsealed backflap; this would have been a circular rate item.  Nice use.  SOLD
