[4723.68] Nice example of the Raleigh NC provisional Confederate envelope, 68UX1.  Black double CDS; light red provisional marking is a bit smudgy; edge tearing at right.  Scott $400.  With biographical info regarding recipient.  $80
[4723.37] Nice Confederate States #2e , Stone Y, 4 margin example, used from Richmond to Bentivoglio VA.  Recipient spent some time as an assistant surgeon in the confederate army but was not addressed as such here.  Mathematical calculations, some reverse docketing and flap damage, and a nibble at upper right of the cover.  Stone Y stamps have a Scott value of $400 on cover.  $80
[2972]  Nice 3 cent star die stamped envelope from Holly Springs, Mississippi. March 20, 1861 date, sent to Baltimore MD.  CONFEDERATE USE, after Mississippi’s admission to the CSA and while the CSA continued to use the US postal system.  Valued in the confederate catalog at $250; this example has a bit of soiling and a diagonal bend (doesn’t appear to be a full crease) that could presumably be flattened.  Nice item! $100
[4723.57]  Unusual Confederate States mourning cover.  Pair of #7 on reverse, addressed to Equality, SC on the front  Tear and staining on flaps.  South Carolina postmark is most likely Charleston but not clear.  Interesting cover.  $100
[4723.39]  Neat Confederate cover from Washington GA to the Confederate patent office#2e, Stone Y, milky blue.  4 margin, bottom sheet example; cover with soiling and aging; stamp with rough corners but still 4 margins.  Scott $400 on cover; unusual reference to the confederate patent office, which was a very small operation.  remnant wax seal on reverse.    $100
[4723.19]  Cute Confederate States #1 cover from Columbia SC to a Miss Rosa Pringle, North Santee SC (via Georgetown).  Nice stamp, just touching at left with 3 good margins.  According to prior dealer research Pringle was the daughter of the collector of the port in Charleston and is written about in a diary of a cousin that has been published; there's also a small copy of Pringle's portait with the cover.  Cover with some backflap damage. Scott $300 on cover.  $100
[4723.18] Nice 1862 Confederate States cover from Charleston SC to Greenwood SC; #1 is 4 margin but with some rounding of the corner at upper right.  Cover with some typical aging; nice looking item.  2018 Scott $300 on cover. $115
[4723.4]  Nice example of the 5 cent handstamped postmaster provisional from the Confederate post office in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1861.  Scott 68XU1.  Rimless marking with "paid" at center and 5 at bottom; small double circle Raleigh marking. Both a bit light; addressed to Independence VA.  Prior dealer notes and pricing ($400), notes slight reduction at bottom.  Additional pencil notes on reverse, including ex-Brugh and ex-Gallagher provenance.  2018 Scott $400 (versus the $600 in dealer note); valued at $500 in the 2012 CSA catalog.  Affordable example of a Confederate provisional.  $160
[4723.66]  Lousy condition but rare example of the 10 cent black handstamp Confederate provisional envelope of Atlanta, Georgia.  Scott 6XU9, $3250 in 2018.  Cover has faded or removed address, is soiled, with edge wear, and has been refolded a bit.  Several pencil notations and hinge marks on reverse.  Not the most attractive thing but a scarce item, offered at well under 10% of Scott. $200
