[y1201] Affordable example of the Davis correspondence to Peru.  22 cent franking includes 2 10 cent banknotes and a 2 cent; 1871 docketing at left.  Black New York City marking has ornament at bottom but is impacted by missing piece of cover at upper left.  Red New York ship-related marking with 12 cent rate at top;  scarce destination.  Pre-UPU rate for British mail via Panama or Colon was 22 cents from 1870 to 1875.  Lima backstamp; some backflap damage along with the corner missing.  Too bad Mrs. Davis was careless opening her mail. $90
[y3543] Attractive 6 cent banknote cover (double rate) from 1883, New York to Newburgh NY.  Scott #208.  Small corner card; light ink smear below stamp.  Nice color contrast between stamp, postmark, and bright yellow envelope. Slight reduction at right.  Lengthy writeup from legendary dealer Jack Molesworth on back with his retail price of $150.  Scott on cover is $130.  $90
[y2438] Rare African destination cover from Louisville, KY.  5 cent Indigo Garfield, duplex handstamp, tobacco dealer corner card.  Addressed to "Goree Senegambia, W.C. Africa".  Cover slightly reduced at right, but with appropriate backstamp.  $125
[y1386]  Pretty 1 cent grilled banknote, Scott 134, on cover from New York to Winchester NH, circa 1870 but no year date.  American News Company corner card; Nassau Street return address.  Large star in circle cancel; stamp centered low but with plainly visible grill.  Unsealed backflap; this cover would have enclosed a circular.  2018 Scott on cover $240; very nice example of this tough stamp.  SOLD
[y1384] Pretty 1877 use of the 30 cent black banknote issue, Scott 165, from New York to Vera Cruz, Mexico.  Black duplex handstamp ties stamp (with one pulled perf upper right); "str. City of Havana" endorsement with sender's cachet at lower left.  Folded cover with docketing but no content.  2017 PSAG cert erroneously notes this as a use to Havana, which it is not.  2018 Scott $700 on cover; in italics.  SOLD
